About the role:
Hunter Valley Private Hospital seeks an enthusiastic Speech Pathologist to join our Allied Health team on a casual basis. The caseload is predominantly neurological, along with a range of other medical conditions, with assessment and treatment of both inpatients and outpatients. The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary Allied Health department, which seeks to provide our patients with high-quality evidence based, consumer-centred care.

Hunter Valley Private Hospital is an 83-bed hospital. We provide a range of rehabilitation, surgical and medical services including palliative care and pain management. The successful applicant will have the chance to experience a varied clinical caseload across the acute and sub-acute setting
Hunter Valley Private Hospital is accredited by ACHS and has a dedicated focus on providing quality healthcare to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing and managing dysphagia
- Assessing and managing patients with language and communication problems
- Provision of swallowing, speech and language therapy for inpatient and day patient services (diagnoses of clients include neurological, general medical and surgical conditions)
- Complete relevant documentation pertaining to Functional Independent Measure (FIM)
- Actively participate in case conference / progress meetings with the multi-disciplinary team
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor of Speech Pathology
- Previous clinical experience in adult Speech Pathology medical and/or rehabilitation setting
- Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
- Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible, positive approach to work
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage a caseload
- Capacity to work as sole clinician
Desirable Criteria:
- FIM accreditation
- Availability on Monday and Thursday
