Southbridge Dental is seeking a dedicated and organised Dental Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. The role involves working full days Monday and Thursday with a half day Friday (morning), totalling approximately 20hours. As a Dental Assistant, you will be at the heart of our clinical operations, supporting our dental professionals and creating a welcoming environment for our patients. This position offers the flexibility of part-time work whilst making a meaningful contribution to oral healthcare delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting dentists during clinical procedures and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Preparing treatment rooms, sterilising instruments and maintaining dental equipment to the highest standards
- Taking and developing dental radiographs (X-rays) as required and in accordance with safety protocols
- Recording patient information, treatment details and maintaining accurate dental records
- Providing chairside support during examinations, restorative procedures and other dental treatments
- Managing patient flow, scheduling appointments and coordinating with clinical staff
- Assisting with patient education
- Maintaining a clean, hygienic and organised clinical environment at all times
- Managing dental materials and supplies.
- Supporting the practice team in delivering exceptional patient experiences
- Assisting in reception duties.
What we're looking for
- A formal qualification or certification in dental assisting (or equivalent experience demonstrating competency in the role)
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures and clinical best practices
- Experience in a dental practice setting, with proven competency in chairside support and patient care
- Excellent infection control practices and understanding of dental health and safety protocols
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, friendly demeanour with patients and team members
- Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when recording patient information and treatment notes
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and support other practice staff
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic clinical environment
- Experience with dental radiography or radiography qualifications are advantageous
