Queensland Law Society (QLS) is the professional body for legal practitioners, representing more than 14,000 members state-wide. We lead the Solicitors of Queensland with our purpose of Positive Law - Good Lawyers - Public Good.

QLS has a Law Clerk (casual or part-time) opportunity to join the Queensland Law Society's Ethics and Practice Centre. This role with flexibility to adjust hours up or down at certain times of the year, while recognising that everyone's circumstances are different.

The Centre provides practical legal ethics support to the profession, offering a variety of support services aimed at reducing professional conduct issues and risks faced by all legal practices, including targeted services offered by the Practice Advisory Service, helping to uphold the highest standards of the legal profession.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the important work of the QLS Ethics and Practice Centre, while gaining valuable experience in professional standards and practice support.

In this role you will be:

- Undertaking general legal research across a broad range of areas to identify and succinctly summarise key issues.
- Undertake research and organisation of briefing material for the Centre’s solicitors, Committees and Working Groups.
- Providing administrative, telephone and clerical support to the ethics and advisory team.
- Supporting projects and initiatives that promote high standards of legal practice.
- Assisting with correspondence and document management.

Ideally you will have the following:

- Strong research, writing and organisational skills and the ability to identify and summarise key issues.
- High attention to detail and a demonstrated interest in professional standards and ethics
- Ability to use initiative and tact in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.




- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and manage competing priorities.
- Knowledge of (or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of) writing for the web and undertaking basic website content updates.
- Competency in the use of modern office technology, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and record management applications.

Our ideal candidate will be studying towards a relevant qualification in law (having completed at least 1-2 full-time years or the equivalent of 1- 2 years full-time study).
