We are seeking a culturally grounded and experienced HR Manager to lead diversity and inclusion programs, Indigenous Liaison Officer (ILO) services, workforce reporting and governance, and strategic people initiatives. The role will champion cultural safety, strengthen employee engagement, and support meaningful career development opportunities for First Nations employees.
This leadership role sits within the People & Culture Unit in the Business, Communications and Publishing Services Group. It plays a key role in leading workforce reporting within AIHW's Human Resources (HR) function, driving diversity and inclusion initiatives, and performing the Indigenous Liaison Officer (ILO) function by providing cultural support, advocacy and mentoring to First Nations staff.
Under limited direction, you will:
Lead the delivery of workforce reporting, governance and compliance activities, ensuring obligations are met accurately and on time.
Manage complex reporting processes and submissions, coordinating input from executives, subject matter experts and external stakeholders.
Develop and deliver workforce communication and engagement activities that support organisational priorities and drive positive workforce outcomes.
Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of diversity and inclusion strategies, initiatives and action plans that support organisational priorities.
Build productive relationships with employee networks, executives and staff to strengthen workforce inclusion, employee engagement and organisational culture.
Provide cultural mentorship and career development support to First Nations staff, helping to create a culturally secure and inclusive workplace.
Support the First Nations Staff Network and the First Nations Champion through coordination, advice and advocacy.
Contribute to culturally secure recruitment and onboarding processes for First Nations staff and develop workforce strategies that improve retention, progression and leadership pathways.
Support the implementation of the AIHW's Reconciliation Action Plan and other workforce diversity initiatives.
