The opportunity
As a Senior Building Site Compliance Officer, you'll play akey role in protecting community safety and amenity acrossHobsons Bay.
Working within the Planning, Building andHealth Services team, you'll undertake siteinspections,investigatecompliance issues, provide expert advice toindustry stakeholders, and lead complexenforcementmatters.This is an chance to apply yourregulatoryexpertise,contribute to continuousimprovementinitiatives,and help ensure building sites, subdivisionsand public spaces meet legislative and local lawrequirements.
What you'lldo
Conductinspections and investigations of building sites andsubdivisions to ensure legislative and local lawcompliance.
Investigate complaints, gather evidence, issueinfringements and prepare prosecution matters whenrequired.
Providespecialist advice, education and technical guidance toresidents, builders, developers and contractors.
Represent Council in complex, sensitive or high-riskcompliance and enforcement matters.
Contribute to process improvement,reporting,complianceprograms and mentoring of colleagues.




Participate in after hours and weekend roster work,as required, inspecting building sites for complianceand enforcement, including responding to complex orescalated compliance matters where required.
What you need to succeed
Degree,diploma or equivalent qualification inBuilding,Construction,Compliance, Local Government or relatedfield, or substantial relevant experience.
Strongexperience in inspections, investigations, evidencegathering and enforcement activities.
Soundknowledge of Victorian Building legislation, LocalGovernment legislation and Council Local Laws.
Demonstrated leadership, coaching orsupervisoryexperience.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation andconflict resolution skills.
