An opportunity for a Lawyer (1-4 years' PQE) to work alongside Michael Down and Nikki Cassar on Public Liability and Professional Indemnity matters.

The Role
n
A great career opportunity has arisen for a Lawyer or Associate to join our Insurance team in Sydney. In this role you will be working with Michael Down and Nikki Cassar across a range of litigation matters in the area of Public Liability and Professional Indemnity. Our team has been acknowledged for its leading position working with a local government mutual and with a major insurer in Australia.

Initially, you will manage smaller matters with minimal supervision in the Local and District Court working up towards larger matters in the District and Supreme Courts.
n
Responsibilities will include the following:
n
n
File management including meeting deadlines and managing documents
n
Reviewing evidence and preparing advices on indemnity, liability and quantum
n




Communicating with clients both in writing and verbally
n
Identifying issues, briefing experts and analysing opinion
n
Preparing court documents, including statements of evidence
n
Drafting correspondence and communicating with other practitioners
n
Preparing for, managing online processes and appearing in Court
n
Briefing and liaising with counsel
n
n
Who We Are Looking For
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Between 1-4 years' PQE, ideally from a defendant firm. Candidates with a plaintiff background will be considered
n
Demonstrated experience in litigation
n
A professional approach with a client service focus
n
The ability to prioritise tasks and operate in a fast-paced environment
n
A strong academic record from a well-respected university
n
