The Opportunity: As National HSE Investigations Lead, you will help strengthen Komatsu Australia's safety culture by providing specialist leadership across HSE, wellbeing and incident investigations.
Working closely with operational leaders, you will lead complex investigations, drive continuous improvement, reduce risk and provide trusted, evidence-based advice to create safer workplaces.
Key Responsibilities: Lead investigations into serious incidents, environmental events and high-potential near misses.
Gather and critically assess evidence, conduct interviews and apply root cause analysis to establish robust findings and corrective actions.
Partner with operational leaders to strengthen critical risk management and HSE performance.
Provide specialist advice, coaching and constructive challenge on investigations, HSE leadership and safe work practices.
Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, environmental requirements and company standards.
Support and continuously improve HSE management systems aligned to ISO ***** and ISO *****.
Support Contractor Management implementation and continual improvement, including advice and effective use of KOMSafe and MyCority.
Support Management of Change implementation and continual improvement, including team upskilling and advice on HSE risks arising from change.
Analyse HSE data, identify trends and drive continuous improvement across the business.
Prepare high-quality reports and lead organisational learning by communicating investigation findings, trends, lessons learned and best practices.
Support HSE audits, assurance activities and national programs, maintaining high standards of integrity, confidentiality and professional conduct.

Melbourne preferred - Other Austrailian locations considered What we are looking for: Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Work Health Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline ICAM Lead Investigator (or equivalent investigation qualification) Lead Auditor qualification (ISO ***** and/or ISO *****) highly desirable Qualification or demonstrated experience in ergonomics, occupational hygiene, or workplace rehabilitation (desirable) Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to regional branches and customer sites Experience : Demonstrated experience leading complex HSE, workplace, regulatory or comparable investigations, including interviewing, evidence analysis and root cause analysis, ideally using ICAM and 5 Whys.
Demonstrated composure, discretion and professional judgement when managing sensitive matters, conflicting information and challenging stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and consistently deliver high-quality work with limited supervision.
Comprehensive knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and Codes of Practice, with a strong understanding of ISO ***** and ISO ***** management systems.
Strong knowledge of critical risk management, critical control verification and risk assessment methodologies.
Sound knowledge of injury prevention, ergonomics, occupational health, psychosocial hazards and workplace wellbeing.
Experience conducting HSE audits and assurance activities and managing corrective and preventive actions through to effective closure.




Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess evidence and HSE data, identify trends and develop practical improvement initiatives.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to critically review complex information and produce clear, accurate and professional reports, presentations and technical documents for operational, executive and regulatory audiences.
Demonstrated experience reviewing and improving HSE procedures, investigation reports, guidance materials and other technical documentation.
Advanced capability in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere Pro, or demonstrated capability developing qualified visual, digital or multimedia communications, is highly desirable but not essential.
