Join our Western Australia business in a key Perth leadership role, shaping the successful delivery of major transport infrastructure projects.
You will work across disciplines and offices, bringing together technical expertise, commercial judgement and collaborative leadership to deliver integrated outcomes for government and private sector clients across highways, rail, maritime and aviation.
The Chance As Design Director, you will be accountable for the performance and successful delivery of major transport infrastructure projects.
You will lead multidisciplinary teams across the full project lifecycle, from project conception and bid strategy through detailed design and construction support, with a focus on Alliance and Design and Construct delivery models.
Working as a Project Director, you will take ownership of design coordination, technical quality, client satisfaction, people development and commercial performance.
You will manage scope, programme, cost, risk, profitability and contractual obligations, while strengthening trusted relationships with clients and delivery partners and supporting the creation of future major transport opportunities.
·Lead the bidding, design and delivery of large-scale transport infrastructure projects, coordinating disciplines and resources to achieve safe, innovative and technically excellent outcomes.
·Own project commercial outcomes, including work winning, contract negotiation, scope, programme, budget, risk, profitability and financial performance.
·Build trusted relationships with clients and delivery partners, representing Arup with credibility and supporting growth across targeted transport sectors.
·Provide clear leadership, coaching,



mentoring and constructive feedback to develop project teams and build capability for future major opportunities.
·Contribute to the current and future performance of the WA business through strong project delivery, strategic thinking and collaborative leadership.

Is this role right for you?
·Recognised tertiary qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a similar relevant discipline, together with Chartered membership of Engineers Australia or an equivalent professional body, or a willingness to obtain it.
·Significant consulting experience in the design and delivery of major transport infrastructure projects across multiple stages of the project lifecycle.
·Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and experience delivering through Alliance and Design and Construct procurement models.
·Strong commercial capability across work winning, contract negotiation, scope, programme, budget, risk, profitability and project financial performance.
·A proven ability to build senior client and partner relationships, communicate effectively in technical and non-technical environments, and mentor and develop others.




Experience working with road and rail authorities such as Main Roads Western Australia and the Public Transport Authority is desirable.
