For more than 50 years, Taldumande Youth Services has helped young people across NSW find safety, stability and hope for the future.
n
We're looking for a Case Worker to join our Youth Justice Casework Support Program in Parramatta and Western Sydney on a full time, fixed-term basis, supporting young people to overcome barriers, build confidence, and create positive change.
n
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
n
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, and working closely with theParramatta Youth Justice Community Office (YJCO) team, the Case Worker will be responsible for:
n
n
Delivering the Youth Justice Casework Support Program (YJ CSP) across Cumberland, Fairfield and Canterbury-Bankstown LGAs, providing practical support to help young people at risk of ongoing involvement in the criminal justice system to achieve positive change in their lives.
n
Providing front line services to children and young people aged ******* years referred by YJ NSW who are being supervised by YJ NSW, young people who are transitioning from custody into the community, young people who have a Youth Justice Conference (YJC) referral and young people receiving Bail Support.
n
Providing a range of culturally appropriate, holistic and practical supports for the young person and their families to address the underlying needs and issues that contribute to their offending.
n
Ensuring timely referrals and support to access services and supports that meet the young person's needs including financial support (Centrelink), accommodation, health services, re-engagement with school, vocational training, prosocial activities, cultural connection, mentoring and brokerage.
n
Undertaking case management activities in an efficient and professional manner.
n
Collaborating with youth justice services, organisations, partner agencies and government departments.
n
Working closely with schools, courts, police, detention centres and legal professionals, providing advice, briefings and reports.
n
Working to influence change in the overrepresentation of Aboriginal children and young people in the youth justice system.

ABOUT YOU
n
n
Bring a minimum of 1 years' experience working in youth work, youth justice, community services, casework, or a similar setting.
n
Experience supporting vulnerable young people with complex needs
n
Communicate confidently with young people, parents, carers, extended family and support networks.
n
Bring sound judgement, resilience and a calm, trauma-informed approach when supporting young people with complex needs.
n
Understand the challenges faced by young people involved with, or at risk of involvement in, the youth justice system.
n
n
ESSENTIAL COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
n
n
Relevant completed tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or equivalent
n
Current Paid Working with Children Check to be provided prior to appointment
n
Undergo a National Police Clearance Check
n
Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence and access to an insured vehicle
n
Current First Aid Certificate and willingness to attend compulsory training
n
