About the Role
In this role youwillprovidetechnicalsupport toresearch projects conducted attheTamworth Agricultural Institute.
You will alsobe requiredto support field trials atotherNSWDPIRDresearchsitesincludingNarrabri(AustralianCotton Research Institute)and Breeza (Liverpool PlainsField Station), as welltrialsatSpring RidgeandBellata.
Further,you willberequiredtohelpconductaregional surveyofpaddockslocatedwithintheTamworth, Liverpool Plains and Narrabri ShireCouncil areas.
As part of this role, you will supervise technical staffto ensurework is completed safely, consistently and in line with protocols.
This position requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders who share research facilities and resources, as well as landholders.
Your primary rolewill be to providetechnical,administrativeandscientificsupportto research projectsfocusedon improving pulse production, with a focus ontheassociationsthatlegumesformwith beneficial microbes – rhizobia.
Day-to-dayactivities will vary depending on the time of the season and will rangefrompreparationandestablishmentoffieldtrials,tosoil/plantsample collectionand assessment, to data entry and interpretation.
You willbe requiredtoperform avarietyoftasksrangingfromoperatingheavymachinery to assessing plant samples in a laboratory.
You will be joining a team of approximatelyten people involved in pulse and cereal agronomy research.
The role will require regular travel totrialsites off-station and will include overnight stays.

To be successful in this role, you must hold (essential requirement)
Qualificationsin accordance withPart A-2 (xviii)



of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award
Current NSW Driver Licence
Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations, including overnight stays.

Bringpractical technical capability, strong organisational skills,strong administration andinformationtechnologyskills,andtheability to work effectively in a team environment.
You will enjoy working outdoors, managingmultipleprioritiesandcontributing tohigh‐qualityresearch outcomes.
You will preferablyhaveexperienceoperatingawide variety ofagriculturalmachineryincluding heavy-duty tractors and precision planters(as well as experience transporting machinery).
You will alsobe familiar with and proficient in the Microsoft Office Suiteof programs and be ableto collateand interpret agronomic data at afoundational level.
