Recruitment is retained on a confidential search for a Fund Manager, on behalf of a private real estate investment and development business based in Melbourne.About the businessOur client invests its own capital alongside private and institutional capital partners, across development, value add and core plus strategies in the commercial and industrial sectors.
Since inception the business has transacted and developed more than two billion dollars of property, and now holds assets under management of over one billion dollars across a growing family of funds and investment vehicles.The roleThis is a newly created position within Investment Management, reporting to the Head of Investment Management.
It reflects strong growth in the firm's flagship fund, which still has significant capital to deploy.
It also reflects growing scale and complexity across the wider platform of funds and vehicles.You will start with day to day accountability for the flagship fund, covering portfolio construction, capital management, fund level performance and investor reporting.
From there, this is a genuine build role.
There is a explicit path to shape the systems, processes and reporting discipline that let the whole platform scale, and to grow this into ownership of the funds management function as new vehicles are added, rather than stepping into something already built.Core responsibilities include:leading day to day management of the flagship fund, including acquisition assessment, portfolio construction and adherence to the mandate and governing documentspreparing fund level papers,



recommendations and business cases for the Investment Committeeoverseeing the valuation programme, coordinating internal teams and external valuersleading investor reporting and communications, keeping it accurate and consistent across all vehiclesbuilding and improving the funds management systems, processes and reporting frameworks that let the platform scale as new funds and vehicles are addedworking closely with the Head of Capital, Head of Asset Management and the analyst teamAbout youat least seven years' experience in real estate funds management, property investment or institutional capital markets, with a track record across fund or portfolio management.
Experienced portfolio managers or senior investment managers ready to step into a fund management seat are encouraged to applyexperience with unlisted property funds, and a sound understanding of fund structures, mandates, trust deeds and investor obligationsstrong capability in portfolio construction, asset allocation and performance measurement, including IRR, equity multiple and NAVhighly skilled in financial modelling, analysis and valuationexperience working directly with institutional investors and capital partnersa systems and process mindset, comfortable building the frameworks that let a growing platform scaletertiary qualifications in finance, property, commerce, economics or a related fieldThis role gives you ownership of a fund at a genuine inflection point, with a clear path to build out the funds management function as the platform grows, inside a business that invests its own capital alongside its partners and backs its people to make decisions like owners.
