ABOUT THE ROLE
TransAlta Australia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Canadian-based TransAlta Corporation, currently operates and maintains 6 power stations in Western Australia.
With a 25-year history in the State, we provide safe, clean, and reliable power to large mining and industrial customers.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and driven HV Technician to join our team in the North Goldfields region of Western Australia!
A DAY IN THE LIFE
HV Switching Operator per 5.18 MSIR ****Compliance with all TransAlta Safety Policies, Standards,
and ProceduresMaintenance and planning activities in line with the Work Management ProcessPlanning of Major and routine outagesPlanning, organising and delivery of Capital Works ProjectsTroubleshoot problems with plant equipment for the purpose of supply restorationProvide detailed reports during routine maintenance tasks and unplanned maintenance eventsTraining of new staff members as requiredSupervision of contract support staff ensuring secure work standards are maintainedOther duties as required and commensurate with role and qualifications
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:
HV Switching Operator endorsementTrade Qualified in electrical discipline or higherElectrical Workers LicenseExcellent organisational and communication skillsAbility to work safely both independently and in a team environmentIntermediate computer skills (email, word, spreadsheet, and databases) are requiredMust be able to work in hot & cold environments, at heights, and within confined spacesWorking knowledge of and the ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and P&IDdrawings;, specifications, and wiring diagramsWorking knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distributionExperience in Protection SystemsHR driver's license is essentialEWP, Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications
Nice to Haves
Heavy industrial HV experience is highly desirableExperience with solar farms and/or battery storageExperience with SAP or other Work Management software
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Police Clearance (within the last six months)Undertake pre-employment medicalRight to work in Australia
