Full-Time Permanent RoleFlexible location between BaptistCare Shared Services sites Sydney or Melbourne.Be part of a purpose-led organisation making a genuine difference in people's livesAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Information & Digital team and play a key role in delivering BaptistCare's data transformation strategy.Reporting to the Head of Data Platform & Engineering, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, data models, Lakehouse solutions and cloud-based data platforms that support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics and business decision-making across the organisation.Working with enterprise applications, APIs, databases, legacy systems and file-based sources, you will help ensure trusted, high-quality data is available to support strategic and operational decision-making.
You'll collaborate closely with BI Analysts, Data Scientists, business stakeholders, architects, technology teams and external vendors/partners to understand requirements, participate in solution design workshops, build reliable data assets and modernise BaptistCare's data ecosystem.The role will take end-to-end ownership of data engineering solutions from requirements gathering and design through development, deployment, production support and continuous optimisation, while ensuring data quality, governance, security and operational reliability.About YouUndergraduate qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related disciplineMinimum 6+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing or Business Intelligence rolesExperience developing ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Azure Synapse and dbtStrong SQL development, data modelling and data warehousing experience, including experience with large and complex datasetsExperience implementing Lakehouse solutions, Medallion Architecture and enterprise data modelsExperience migrating data from legacy systems and databases to Snowflake, with a solid focus on data quality and integrityStrong analytical, problem-solving and end-to-end solution ownership capabilities,



including troubleshooting production data pipelinesStrong stakeholder communication skills and experience translating business requirements into technical solutions and participating in solution design workshopsExperience using Azure DevOps/Azure Repos for source control, CI/CD and Agile delivery, with a commitment to engineering standards, documentation and continuous improvementDemonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes while working in a manner consistent with BaptistCare's Christian identity and organisational valuesHighly RegardedExperience with Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Microsoft Fabric or similar cloud data platformsExperience with dbt, including modular data modelling, testing, documentation and engineering best practicesExperience with Python and/or other data engineering toolsExperience with Azure Synapse and modern Azure data servicesExperience developing dimensional data models, semantic layers and curated data productsExperience with MuleSoft Integration PlatformMicrosoft Azure, Snowflake and/or dbt certificationsExperience working with healthcare, aged care or community services systemsUnderstanding of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, security and data management practicesExperience working within highly regulated environmentsKey ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and maintain scalable ELT pipelines and data integration solutions using Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake and related technologiesIngest and integrate data from enterprise applications, APIs, databases, legacy systems and file-based sources, including migration from on-premises environmentsBuild and optimise modern Lakehouse solutions using Medallion Architecture to deliver trusted, reusable and analytics-ready data assetsDevelop and maintain dbt models, dimensional data models,



semantic layers and curated data products aligned with business requirements and enterprise standardsPerform data profiling, cleansing, validation and reconciliation, and implement testing and monitoring to ensure data quality, integrity and reliabilityTake end-to-end ownership of data engineering solutions from requirements gathering and solution design through development, deployment, production support and continuous optimisationMonitor, troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline and platform issues, while optimising Snowflake performance, storage utilisation, query efficiency and overall platform reliabilityApply data governance, security, metadata management, data lineage and documentation practices to ensure trusted, compliant and well-managed enterprise dataCollaborate with BI Analysts, Data Scientists, business stakeholders, architects and technical teams to deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions and support Agile sprint commitmentsUtilise Azure DevOps and Azure Repos for source control, CI/CD and release management, while contributing to engineering standards, knowledge sharing and continuous improvementAbout UsBaptistCare is a leading purpose-led care organisation, guided by our Christian identity and serving people and communities across Australia for more than 110 years.
