MAYDAY Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a well-established Queensland not-for-profit organisation to recruit a newly created Finance Business Analyst position.And whilst the title says Finance Business Analyst, this is not your traditional Finance BA role.We're looking for an Assistant Accountant / Finance Analyst who is highly data-driven, loves getting into the detail behind the numbers and wants the opportunity to step into a broader analytical role.Reporting to the Lead Financial Accountant, you'll be part of a small, collaborative finance team and have the opportunity to genuinely influence how financial data is reported, understood and used across the organisation.What you'll be doingYou'll have a really diverse mix of accounting, reporting and analytical responsibilities, including:Supporting month-end reporting, reconciliations, journals and financial commentaryPreparing weekly, monthly and rolling cashflow reportsAnalysing financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunitiesBuilding and maintaining financial models for forecasting, scenario planning and decision-makingSupporting annual budgets and ongoing forecast updatesDeveloping dashboards and automated reporting to make financial information easier to understandPreparing audit-ready schedules and supporting year-end processesMaintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the ERPIdentifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and reportingBuilding robust relationships with stakeholders and helping them understand the story behind the numbersAbout youYou might currently be an Assistant Accountant, Financial Analyst, Management Accountant or similar,



and be looking for an opportunity that gives you more exposure to the analytical and commercial side of finance.You'll be someone who:Loves data and naturally looks for the story behind the numbersIs highly analytical and enjoys interpreting information rather than simply reporting itHas strong Excel skills and ideally exposure to Power BI or other reporting toolsHas a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial reportingIs commercially minded and comfortable questioning, investigating and problem-solvingIs proactive, curious and always looking for a better way of doing thingsCan build strong relationships and communicate financial information in a clear, easy-to-understand wayHas excellent attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger pictureA degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
