About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, person-centred clinical care within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home.
This role involves supporting two Participants with complex health needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life in a home environment.
The RN will play a key role in managing and monitoring conditions such as:
PEG tube management (administration of feeds and medications, site care)
Epilepsy and seizure management (medication administration, seizure action plans)
Aspiration pneumonia and respiratory care (use of suctioning machines, asthma management)
Complex bowel care (including enemas)
This position requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and leadership qualities, along with collaboration with support workers, allied health professionals, and families to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care that promotes independence and quality of life in a home environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical oversight and direct nursing care for Participants with complex health conditions
Administer medications and feeds via PEG/J tube in accordance with best practices
Implement and monitor individualised care plans, ensuring adherence to medical recommendations
Assess and respond to health concerns, escalating issues when necessary
Educate and train Support Workers in delivering safe and effective daily care
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with relevant healthcare regulations
Essential Criteria
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
Demonstrated experience in complex clinical care within a disability or community setting
Proven competency in PEG tube care, including feeding, medication administration, and site maintenance
Strong knowledge of epilepsy management, including seizure response and medication administration
Proficiency in medication administration, including understanding of relevant legislation and guidelines
Excellent clinical assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
