Palmerston Regional Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Adult Mental Health Acute Team (AMHAT) in Palmerston/Parap, Northern Territory. This is a 12-week contract position starting 21 September 2026, offering an opportunity to work in mental health triage and acute assessment within a recovery-focused framework. You'll be part of a team delivering holistic care to clients in acute mental health crisis, working alongside clinical teams and carers to develop and implement individualised care plans.

- Specialise in mental health triage and acute mental health assessment in a dedicated acute team
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans using a recovery-based approach
- Work collaboratively with clients, carers, clinical teams, and stakeholders to deliver comprehensive, person-centred care

Preferred Requirements





- Current registration as a Registered Nurse at RN4.1 level or above
- Demonstrated experience in mental health triage and acute mental health assessment
- Proven ability to conduct assessments, deliver interventions, and manage cases effectively
- Experience working within a recovery-based framework and developing individualised care plans
- Robust interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with clients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Formal qualification or demonstrated competency in mental health nursing
- Additional training or certification in acute mental health assessment or crisis intervention
