Business Data & Insights Analyst

6-month contract | Inner-city Melbourne | Hybrid - 3 days onsite
We are seeking a solutions-focused Business Data & Insights Analyst to support and enhance an established analytics and reporting setting.
This role combines business analysis, data insights and hands-on technical delivery. You will work with stakeholders to understand their needs, improve existing solutions and develop scalable reporting, data and automation capabilities that support better decision-making.

Key responsibilities

- Support and maintain existing analytics and reporting solutions, troubleshooting issues and ensuring ongoing reliability.
- Gather, analyse and document business and technical requirements.
- Develop and enhance Power BI dashboards, data models and reporting solutions.
- Use SQL to extract, transform and validate data across relational databases.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and operational efficiency.
- Create automation solutions that can be scaled across different areas of the organisation.
- Review requirements, designs and project deliverables to ensure decisions and changes are clearly documented.
- Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver useful insights and measurable outcomes.
- Use AI-enabled tools to assist with coding,



automation and productivity.

About you

You are a commercially minded data professional who is comfortable balancing business analysis, stakeholder engagement and hands-on technical work. You can navigate ambiguity, explain complex information clearly and translate business challenges into practical data solutions.
You will bring:

- Strong experience with Power BI, including dashboard development, reporting and data modelling.
- Sound SQL skills and knowledge of relational databases.
- Experience with data transformation, data engineering or analytics environments.
- The ability to translate business requirements into reliable and scalable solutions.
- Exposure to AI tools for coding, automation or productivity.
- Strong documentation, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and delivering business outcomes.
