About the role

We are currently looking for a Learning Communities Specialists to join the Community and Libraries team on a permanent part time basis (up to 55 hours a fortnight). This role is an educator and idea-leader who is responsible for developing and delivering exciting, creative and innovative Young Adult and Technology learning programs across all City Libraries.

The Learning Communities Specialist will work in close consultation with Library Coordinators in each of the City’s 6 Libraries to ensure a targeted offering of programs for local communities and to coordinate shared staffing resources. The role also contributes to the overall Library service, offering a specialist perspective to strategic planning as part of the Libraries Leadership team, as well as providing input to collection development and service delivery.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

- Developing and delivering high quality young adult education programs with a focus on focus on education and developing workforce capabilities.
- Developing and delivering high quality technology education programs with a focus on education, developing workforce capabilities and tertiary educational pathways.
- Comprehensive independent project management of moderately complex programs (planning and administering staff, attendees, resources, venues, budgets, communications, procurement and risk, evaluation and reporting)
- Design, development, delivery and continuous improvement of an exciting and creative program events across all City of Swan Library Services
- Lead and coordinate a small team of staff, and extended program staff to deliver program sessions and events across multiple locations
- Ensure programs are innovative and collaborative from inception to completion by close liaison with Managers, Coordinators, and Specialists
- Improve the customer experience of programs through relevant technology and software opportunities
- Improve young adult education services and resources for the community by providing young adult education coaching and expertise to other City staff (especially to Library Content and Collections staff)




- Improve technology education services and resources for the community by providing technology education coaching and expertise to other City staff (especially to Library Content and Collections staff)
- Enhance the financial sustainability of libraries by proactively identifying grant funding opportunities and alternative income streams

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

- Graduate Diploma/Certificate in Community Engagement or Education
- Tertiary Qualification in a relevant discipline
- C-Class Drivers Licence
- 3 years + experience in a community engagement/development and or education sectors
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.
- Experience in the fields of Community Engagement, Arts and Culture, Multimedia, or Digital Technology

The salary for this position will be from $97,690.06 to $116,436.70 per annum pro rata, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
