Spray Painter / Blaster — Toowoomba
Finneys Protective Coatings
Have you ever looked at a piece of mining equipment or a big steel structure and have not thought twice about the coating keeping it alive? That's our work. At Finneys, we apply high-performance protective coatings for the mining, gas, and agricultural sectors, protecting everything from critical components to major equipment.
We are a Toowoomba-based, family-run and owned business, and have built a team that sticks around. The workshop is clean and well-organised, the work is varied, and the people are down-to-earth. We look after our staff, and in return they take pride in what goes out the door.
We're looking for a skilled spray painter to join us, with an immediate start available (or we're happy to wait for the right person).
The Job
This is a hands-on spray painter role in our Toowoomba workshop. No two days are quite the same. You'll be coating a wide range of components and equipment, working to customer specifications, and taking real ownership of the finish on every job.
The focus is painting, but you will also need to jump in and blast when the workload calls for it, so blasting experience is a big plus. If you've got the right attitude and paint skills, we can bring you up to speed in blasting.
It's a busy workshop and the pace keeps things compelling. We work hard to keep weekends free, but there'll be the odd time the workload means we need you in on a Saturday. When that happens, it's recognised, and overtime is there for those who want it.
What You'll Be Doing:
· Preparing surfaces to spec, including masking, cleaning, and priming
· Applying primer and topcoats with airless and conventional spray equipment
· Blasting when required
· Handling, hanging, and packing parts neatly and securely
· Keeping your equipment and the spray booth clean and safe
· Following job sheets, safety procedures, and customer specs
· Working on keeping the workshop tidy and running well
What We're Looking for:
· At least 1 to 2 years of spray painting experience, with strong skills to show for it
· Knowledge of the painting and blasting trade
· A real eye for detail and pride in a quality finish
· Someone who can work on their own and as part of the team
· A positive, respectful attitude and good communication
· Physically fit for the manual handling side of the work
· Someone who pitches in and gets stuck into it when things are busy
Handy to Have (but Not Essential)
· Forklift Licence
· Driver's Licence
What We Offer
Beyond steady, long-term work in a growing established business, you'll be joining a team that genuinely enjoys coming to work. You'll get exposure to specialised, high-end coatings you won't find in most workshops, the chance to learn from people who know their craft. Good work life balance with Overtime available when required but most of all, you'll be somewhere your work is noticed and your effort is valued.
We stand on four things: Team, Integrity, Accountability, and Quality. If that's how you like to work, you'll fit right in.
Australian work rights are required.
