About the Role

The Friends’ School is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Access & Inclusion Teacher who is committed to supporting students to achieve their best learning outcomes and ensuring every student can fully participate in their learning.

This is a flexible teaching role of up to 0.8 FTE, depending on teaching area and the successful applicant’s experience and expertise. The School may appoint to one or multiple roles, depending on the skills, qualifications and areas of expertise of applicants.

Working across the School, Access & Inclusion Teachers works collaboratively with students, families, classroom teachers, Learning Assistants and School Psychologists to identify and respond to diverse learning needs and develop inclusive learning environments.

Experience in Access & Inclusion is essential. Experience supporting Gifted and Talented students and/or students with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) will be highly regarded.

Key Focus Areas

- To ensure that you report any child safeguarding issues through the appropriate mandatory reporting processes and promote a culture where children feel empowered to voice their concerns, contributing to a child-safe environment.
- Provide appropriate support to students in whole-class, small-group and one-to-one settings. This support will include the understanding and ability to work with students with a range of specific or general learning, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Identify and respond to diverse learning needs and recommend appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans/Profiles and targeted learning programs.
- Case manage students with substantial or extensive learning needs,



including program modifications and pathway planning.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, Learning Assistants, Learning Leaders, students, families and external professionals to support inclusive learning.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and professional learning to build staff capacity in inclusive practice.
- Support NCCD evidence collection and moderation processes.
- Maintain professional and confidential student documentation and communication.
- Contribute to the School’s teaching, learning, pastoral care, professional learning and co-curricular programs.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties in line with the skills and requirements of this role level, as required.
- Attend Staff Days as required.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

The successful applicant will have:

- Relevant teaching qualifications and current Tasmanian teacher registration.
- Demonstrated experience in Access & Inclusion and supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices, assessment and evidence-based intervention.
- Experience developing Individual Learning Plans/Profiles and targeted learning programs.
- Strong collaboration, communication and organisational skills.
- Experience with case management and NCCD processes will be highly regarded.
- Experience supporting Gifted and Talented students and/or EAL/D will be highly regarded.
- A commitment to student wellbeing, child safety and inclusive education.
- A commitment to The Friends’ School’s Learning Principles, Purpose and Concerns and Quaker ethos.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration (employment) and a National Police Check (less than six months old)
