We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Parks Ganger to lead a field crew and ensure our parks and open spaces are maintained to a high standard, delivering safe, attractive and well‑managed precincts for the community.
What we’re looking for:
You’re a hands‑on leader with strong experience in parks, horticulture or precinct maintenance who enjoys working alongside your team while coordinating daily operations. You bring proven experience supervising crews, planning and prioritising work programs, and delivering efficient maintenance services within budget and service standards. You are safety‑focused, organised and customer‑oriented, with the ability to liaise professionally with the public and internal stakeholders. You’ll hold (or be willing to obtain) a Queensland LR licence, White Card, relevant traffic awareness qualifications and a minimum Certificate III in Horticulture (or equivalent experience). Strong knowledge of powered tools, irrigation systems, tree pruning, herbicide application and WH&S; requirements is essential, along with the physical capability to work in a tropical outdoor environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervising, leading and inspiring a field crew to deliver programmed and responsive maintenance works
- Planning, coordinating and prioritising maintenance activities in consultation with the Supervisor Open Space
- Taking a hands‑on role in daily operations, including the use of powered horticultural and maintenance equipment
- Undertaking regular maintenance inspections and reporting defects or issues promptly
- Providing a high level of customer service when liaising with the public and internal stakeholders
- Ensuring all work complies with workplace health and safety, environmental and quality standards
- Maintaining depot facilities to a high standard
- Providing on‑the‑job training and support to labourers and operators
- Ensuring accurate record keeping and timely entry of information into Council systems
- Undertaking other duties as directed to support operational outcomes
