About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract commencing in October 2026, providing leave cover within our growing business. This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure across a broad range of accounting functions while working closely with the Finance Manager and supporting critical finance operations.

While this is initially a fixed-term contract, there is potential for the contract to be extended for up to 14 months, with the possibility of a permanent opportunity at the conclusion of the term.

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

- Preparing bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.

- Assisting with month-end processes, including journal preparation and general ledger reconciliations.

- Maintaining the fixed asset register, including depreciation calculations and asset disposals.

- Processing debtor claims, receipts, collections, and rebates.

- Processing supplier and subcontractor invoices, including coding and matching documentation.

- Preparing payment runs for review and approval.

- Supporting monthly management reporting and preparing supporting schedules.





- Assisting with BAS and payroll tax workpapers, including GST reconciliations.

- Performing data entry, record maintenance, filing, and other finance administration duties.

- Providing ad hoc financial analysis and support as required.

What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer, or similar accounting role.

- Solid technical accounting knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.

- Excellent reconciliation and month-end processing experience.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or Databuild.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a team.

- A relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
