YOUR ROLE

The Fleet Controller in our Ground Transport division at Hazelmere WA, is responsible for coordinating and planning rail and linehaul freight movements. With a focus on scheduling up to a week in advance, you’ll analyse forecasts, anticipate transport requirements and coordinate available capacity to support reliable, cost-effective service delivery.

This role requires close collaboration with internal teams, depots, rail providers and transport carriers to ensure planned freight movements meet customer, operational and statutory requirements.

This role generally works 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday to Thursday, with some flexibility required based on freight volumes and operational requirements.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Specifically, you will:

- Develop forward transport schedules for rail and linehaul freight movements, generally planning up to a week in advance
- Review forecasts, freight volumes and available capacity to anticipate upcoming transport requirements
- Coordinate rail services, linehaul movements and supporting transport activities to achieve service and cost targets
- Analyse operational information to identify volume changes, capacity constraints and potential service risks
- Work closely with depots, transport providers and internal stakeholders to confirm schedules and support the efficient movement of freight
- Prepare and distribute manifests, schedules and other required transport documentation

- Book additional transport capacity when required and adjust plans in response to changing volumes or operational conditions
- Investigate service issues, update relevant stakeholders and coordinate practical solutions to minimise disruption
- Ensure planned movements comply with statutory and company requirements, including driver fatigue, load restraint and Chain of Responsibility obligations
- Maintain accurate and timely information within CEVA’s Transport Management System.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Our ideal candidate has experience in a fleet planning, allocation or coordination role or similar within the transport sector:

- Strong scheduling and forward-planning skills, with the ability to coordinate transport requirements across multiple days
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage changing priorities, capacity constraints and service requirements
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies
- A practical approach to problem-solving, including knowing when to resolve an issue, seek advice or escalate
- Previous exposure to rail or linehaul operations is advantageous but not essential.

In addition to providing proof of work rights and suitable professional referees, progressed candidates will be required to undergo a medical assessment and national police check.
