Weathertex is seeking a reliable and experienced Logyard Operator to join our manufacturing team in the Hunter Region.
This is a full-time permanent position suited to an experienced plant operator who is confident operating excavators, front-end loaders and forklifts and enjoys working in a hands-on team environment.

About the Role
As a Logyard Operator, you will play an important role in supporting Weathertex's manufacturing operations by safely operating mobile and fixed plant within our logyard.
This is a hands-on role requiring experience with heavy mobile plant, good situational awareness and a strong commitment to safe work practices.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Operating excavators, front-end loaders and forklifts
2. Operating fixed plant and equipment
3. Safely moving, loading and handling logs and materials within the logyard
4. Carrying out pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks
5. Monitoring plant and equipment during operation
6. Undertaking basic plant maintenance where required
7. Identifying and reporting plant faults, hazards and maintenance requirements
8. General housekeeping and maintaining a clean and organised work area
9. Following safe work procedures and operating instructions
10. Working collaboratively with the team to support production requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have:
1.
Demonstrated experience operating excavators
2. Demonstrated experience operating front-end loaders
3. A current Forklift Licence (LF) with demonstrated operating experience
4. Experience working safely around mobile plant and machinery
5. The ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision
6. A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
7. The ability to follow procedures and work instructions
8. Good communication and attention to detail
9. Reliability, punctuality and a positive work ethic
Highly Desirable
We would also like to hear from candidates who have:
1. Experience operating fixed plant and equipment
2. Experience carrying out basic plant maintenance
3. A good mechanical understanding
4. The ability to identify and troubleshoot basic mechanical or plant issues
5. Previous experience working in a logyard, timber, manufacturing, industrial or similar environment

You will be a practical, safety-focused person who enjoys working with machinery and being part of a team.
You take pride in looking after the equipment you operate, understand the importance of completing pre-start checks and are confident identifying when something doesn't look or sound right.
Most importantly, you understand that safety is a priority when working around heavy mobile plant and will follow procedures, communicate with your team and operate equipment responsibly.
