Doxa Youth Foundation (DYF) is a community-based organisation that was established in 1972. We offer a range of programmes to improve outcomes for disadvantaged children and young people across Victoria. We have a particular focus on providing camps and assisting young people to succeed in their studies and the workforce.

About the role

The Senior Activity Instructor is a highly skilled and experienced practitioner who plays a pivotal role in ensuring our camps enrich the lives of participants. This person leads the facilitation (with the support of the Manager & Program Co-ordinator) of all practical aspects of City Camp including accessing public transport, navigating the CBD and attending and participating in a broad range of activities. They also support and mentor our other activity instructors, volunteers and placement students and ensure solid front facing relationships with multiple accommodation, activity and food provider stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the facilitation of day-to-day camp movements, activities & provision of meals

- Welcome all incoming group leaders and participants

- Lead briefings with group leaders and participants on arrival

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders providing accommodation, activities and meals for City Camp





- Contribute to the development of Holiday Camp programs and their facilitation

- Provide support to the Program Coordinator in completing administration tasks outside of rostered facilitation periods

- Support the induction of new team members, volunteers and placement students and provide ongoing guidance and support to improve

- Ensure all program related equipment and provisions are available, safe and ready for use with the incoming group

- Ensure all documentation is completed correctly and in accordance with City Camp requirements

- Understand and act in accordance with the City Camp standard operating procedures (SOP) and DYF policies and procedures

About you

- Proven track record in facilitating quality programmes for children and young people

- Skills and experience in leading, managing and developing teams

- Understanding of risk management when delivering programs for children and young people

- Highly developed time management and organisational skills

- Ability to relate well to a broad range of stakeholders including participants, business owners / staff and others as required

- Capacity to work independently or as part of a team in an efficient and productive manner
