Drive Practical Engineering Solutions | Improve Mining Performance

MLG is seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Perth-based team and play a key role in delivering practical engineering solutions that improve safety, productivity and operational performance across our client sites.

Reporting to the Civil Manager and Project Managers, you will be responsible for taking projects from concept and design through to implementation, reporting and close-out. This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving real operational challenges, working collaboratively with site teams and seeing their ideas put into practice.

With regular travel to client and operational sites, you’ll work closely with technical specialists, operational teams, senior leaders and clients to deliver projects safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

- Develop practical engineering plans, designs and solutions that meet operational and client requirements.




- Prepare detailed drawings, project specifications, engineering calculations and cost estimates.
- Review and support drill pattern designs to deliver safe, practical and efficient outcomes.
- Develop technical reports, diagrams, investigations and regulatory documentation.
- Design and conduct engineering trials and investigations to identify and validate workable solutions.
- Manage projects from planning and resourcing through to implementation, reporting and close-out.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets and performance to ensure effective delivery.
- Analyse project outcomes and present clear recommendations to technical leads, senior leaders and clients.
- Identify opportunities to standardise processes, eliminate waste, improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Provide hands-on engineering support across operational sites, including implementation, reporting and compliance activities.
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company, client and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a practical and solutions-focused engineer who combines strong technical capability with initiative, commercial awareness and a genuine commitment to getting results.

You will ideally have:

- 3–5 years’ relevant engineering experience, preferably within mining or a related operational environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical,



problem-solving and design-thinking skills.
- Experience producing technical drawings, engineering calculations and professional reports.
- Confidence using relevant engineering, technical and data-analysis software.
- A sound understanding of project delivery, productivity, costs and budgets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present technical information to a range of stakeholders.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
- A current C Class Driver’s Licence.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly to client and operational sites.
