Tellus is an ambitious company that provides advanced end-to-end solutions for managing Australia’s most challenging hazardous materials at its Sandy Ridge Facility. Sandy Ridge is Australia’s first and only operational geological repository. Our mission is to enable the clean energy transition by helping Australian industry start up, scale up, clean up, and innovate in circular economy technologies.

The Opportunity

The Sandy Ridge Facility is a remote residential site, with FIFO from Jandakot, Perth or DIDO from regional towns. Our operations are day shift only, working currently on a 2:2 roster pattern. The project has a design life of at least 25 years and operates with a team of approximately 25 Tellus staff and additional contractors (per swing).

The Health, Safety and Training Coordinator oversees workplace health, safety and training across the project. The role implements proactive WHS systems, maintains legislative compliance and fosters a strong safety culture. It also manages training programs that enable personnel to work safely and effectively while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities

Health and Safety

- Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety programs, systems, processes and initiatives to enhance safety performance and operational delivery.

- Promote the effective use of Tellus health and safety systems by providing personnel with practical guidance, support and training.





- Lead and facilitate site health and safety risk assessments in consultation with relevant personnel, including the identification, implementation and review of effective controls.

- Facilitate incident investigations, support the identification of root causes and contributing factors, and monitor corrective actions through to effective close-out.

- Provide practical health and safety advice to site leaders, supervisors, employees and contractors, maintaining a visible workplace presence to understand operational activities, identify emerging risks, reinforce protected work practices and encourage workforce participation.

- Conduct and participate in workplace inspections, safety interactions and other proactive health and safety activities.

- Represent Tellus during client and third-party audits and provide supporting information as required.

- Support health and safety performance monitoring and reporting for internal and external stakeholders, including LGIRS requirements where applicable.

Training

- Lead and coordinate site training and competency requirements to support operational, safety and compliance needs.

- Develop, implement and maintain site-wide training plans aligned with operational requirements and identified competency needs.





- Partner with the leadership team, supervisors and other key stakeholders to identify and address training and development requirements.

- Maintain and update the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring training records, competencies, licences and qualifications remain accurate and current.

- Facilitate internal training programs and coach subject matter experts in the effective delivery of workplace training.

- Support the development and implementation of individual training plans in consultation with employees, supervisors and relevant stakeholders.

- Coordinate schedules, bookings and attendance for internal and external training programs.

Reporting Relationships

Reporting to our GM Safety, Risk & Compliance, based at our operational facility - Sandy Ridge (nr. Coolgardie)

Role Requirements

- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a health, safety and/or training role within mining, resources, waste management, heavy industry or a comparable operational environment.

- Certificate IV Health & Safety

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

- Formal incident Investigation training skills, preferably ICAM

- Certified to collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing

- Current WA Drivers License

- Current National Police Clearance

- Intermediate skill level across Microsoft Office suite of programs

- Demonstrated experience using incident, hazard and corrective-action reporting systems/databases, including entering, reviewing, tracking and closing out actions.
