We are seeking a Media Officer to provide media and communication services within our Communication and Engagement Division. This is a full time, permanent position. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our headquarters (currently Blackburn, future Doncaster) in line with our hybrid working model.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager Media, this role will provide media and communication services that contribute to AV's reputation and community engagement objectives. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Support the delivery of media relations activities, media monitoring, content development and stakeholder communications, helping ensure accurate, timely and engaging information is provided through traditional, digital and emerging channels
- Draft media releases, social media content, key messages, media statements and responses, and communication materials, and contribute to media opportunities that showcase AV's people, services and achievements
- Monitor media coverage including social media activity and provide regular reports, summaries and alerts
- Support media activities including interviews, photography, filming opportunities and media events
- Build productive working relationships with internal stakeholders across AV and contribute positively to a collaborative and customer-focused team environment
About you
The successful candidate will have a degree or relevant industry certification with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience. Other requirements include but not limited to:
- Demonstrated understanding of media, communication and social media principles and practices with ability to develop clear, accurate and engaging written communication materials
- Experience supporting communication, media or stakeholder engagement activities
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Capacity and capability to work rostered hours, shift work, including public holidays and weekends
