About the Role

Butler McDermott Lawyers is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our team in Nambour, QLD for a 6 month contract, commencing in the first week of October. As a full-time Legal Secretary, you will provide high-level administrative support to our legal professionals in the Wills & Estates department, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of legal services to our clients.

Australian work rights are required for this position.

As a full-time employee your hours stretch over a five (5) day working week, with hours as follows:

- Monday – 8:30am – 5pm

- Tuesday – 8:30am – 5pm

- Wednesday – 8:30am – 5pm

- Thursday – 8:30am – 5pm

- Friday – 8:30am – 3pm

Key responsibilities include:

- Manage the daily calendars and schedules of assigned lawyers, arranging meetings, appointments and travel as needed

- Prepare and format a variety of legal documents such as correspondence, contracts, briefs and court filings

- Conduct legal research and compile information to support the work of legal professionals





- Maintain electronic and physical filing systems, ensuring records are organised and easily retrievable

- Provide exceptional customer service to clients, handling inquiries, scheduling appointments and following up on requests

- Assist with other administrative tasks as required to support the smooth operation of the legal practice

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment

- Minimum 1-2 years of legal secretary experience is required

- Excellent typing and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively

- Proficiency in the use of legal software, Microsoft Office suite and other office technologies

- Proficiency in LawMaster legal software is required

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and courteous manner

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and adaptable approach

- Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and document formatting
