About the Opportunity

The Restoring Specialist Youth Practitioner will deliver rapid, culturally safe, flexible and intensive services prioritising young people aged 10-16 years and their families using a case management and care team approach. This includes the provision of therapeutic and trauma-informed supports that engage the voice and choice, cultural identity and lived expertise of children and their families and carers. They will also provide conflict resolution, mediation support, case planning, service coordination and navigation for young people and their families across a range of complexity levels. Practitioners will also work within a comprehensive evidence-based monitoring and evaluation framework.

About you

We are looking for someone who can:

- Rapidly engage young people and their families to provide intensive, therapeutic, trauma and evidence informed support that is centred around creating wellbeing and safety for the young person, building parental/caregiver capacity and improving family functioning;

- Develop, implement and review young people and family action plans that build on young people and family assessments and are tailored to the needs of participating families. Plans are to be co-developed with young people, families and carers as well as where relevant care team members and other professionals;

- Refer, develop and maintain effective partnerships/care teams with a wide breadth of services including specialist and mainstream services in youth, family, health, employment and training and disability;





- Work in line with a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework to inform continuous improvement and build the evidence base for Victorian and Aboriginal family preservation and reunification services;

- Undertake and participate in self-reflection, observation and Family Feedback processes as required by the Department, using feedback to strengthen practice, maintain fidelity and improve outcomes for young people and families;

- Actively participate in the Response Coaching Model.

Essential:

- Bachelor qualification in social work, youth work, psychology, early childhood development or related tertiary qualification;

- Substantial experience in providing therapeutic informed casework with young people and parents/families, particularly those with complex needs;

- Sound understanding of child development and the factors that can impede a child’s healthy development;

- Experience in providing risk and needs assessment, intervention and risk management.

Screening Criteria:

- National Police check

- Working with Children check or ability to obtain

- Valid Victorian Driver's license

- Right to Work in Australia
