We are seeking a hands-on, experienced, and commercially minded CFO. You will take full ownership of our finance function and help drive our continued success.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the joint CEOs, you will lead the finance function across the organisation.
Key areas include:
- Reporting Entity financial reporting and compliance
- Management reporting
- Budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management
- Payroll oversight and administration
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Team administration
- P&C; Support
You will lead the finance and administration team while working closely with the CEOs and Finance Committee to drive business performance and continuous improvement.
You will be the key finance liaison with our major investor. This involves delivering regular management reporting within tight deadlines and handling ad hoc requests from stakeholders in Australia and the UK.
Note: this role is a full time in-office role, Hawthorn location.
What We Are Looking For
- A Chartered Accountant with 10 + years in a senior finance role
- Proven experience in a medium to large Australian business
- Reporting Entity experience and familiarity with Accounting Standards
- Advanced ERP and financial systems experience
- Understanding of service-based organisations and their challenges
- Capability to thrive in a busy, hands-on leadership role
- Ability to be equally comfortable working at a strategic level or rolling up your sleeves when required
- A cooperative leader with an impeccably high level of integrity, judgement, emotional intelligence and a passion for achieving operational excellence
- Experience in environmental, safety, or similar industries (highly regarded)
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the end-to end finance function
- Manage Payroll for 300+ employees, including preparing data for our outsourced payroll provider. You will effectively be the Payroll Manager for the business, so payroll expertise and willingness to be hands-on with this is essential.
- Support the P&C; Manager with special projects and policy implementation
- Deliver accurate financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Manage cashflow
- Ensure compliance with BAS, GST, payroll tax, superannuation, FBT, Income tax, Workers Compensation and all other statutory obligations.
- Partner with operational teams to analyse project profitability, margins, and business performance.
- Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, controls, and business processes.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax accountants, banks, and other key stakeholders as required.
