Role Description

This full-time, on-site Occupational Health & Safety Specialist role is based in the Greater Bismarck Area. The specialist will develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations and standards. Daily responsibilities include conducting workplace inspections and risk assessments, investigating incidents and near-misses, and recommending corrective actions to reduce hazards and improve safety performance. The role also involves delivering safety training, updating safety documentation and procedures, and collaborating with managers and staff to promote a strong safety culture.



The specialist will analyze safety data, prepare reports, support regulatory audits, and provide technical guidance on occupational health and environmental health and safety issues.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Workplace Safety skills, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety program implementation.
- Candidates should possess Occupational Health expertise, such as knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, ergonomics, and exposure control practices.
- Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) skills, including familiarity with relevant environmental and safety regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Candidates should possess Safety Training skills, with experience developing and delivering clear, engaging training sessions and safety communications.
- Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; skilled certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHST) are preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply OSHA, DOE, and other regulatory requirements; strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, work cross-functionally, and support a proactive safety culture in field and office environments.
- Experience in utility, energy, or industrial operations environments is beneficial; ability to work on-site in the Greater Bismarck Area and across North Dakota
