About the role
We're looking for a hands-on Technician - UG Mining Equipment (HcD Technician) to join our Mining Services team based in Perth, WA.
In this role, you'll support Orica's underground blasting machinery and customer-operated systems through maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment commissioning, and technical support across Western Australia and South Australia.
This is an excellent prospect for mechanically‑minded people looking to apply their skills in a new industry. Whether you are experienced or not, we'll train and support you to develop your knowledge of underground blasting operations and our specialised mining equipment.
Working on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster, you'll fly to Orica locations across Western Australia, enjoying a high level of autonomy while providing technical support and training to our valued customers.
What you will be doing
- Service, maintain and repair underground blasting equipment, including Hypercharge Drive Units (HcD).
- Find and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and system faults.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers on‑site and over the phone.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and help customers minimise operational downtime.
- Carry out equipment inspections, routine servicing and maintenance audits.
- Assist with installing, testing and commissioning new equipment.
- Build strong relationships with customers through reliable service and support.
- Keep accurate service records and work safely in line with site, customer and Orica requirements.
What you will bring
We're open to candidates from different backgrounds who can demonstrate:
- Strong hands‑on experience in maintaining mobile or fixed plant equipment;
- Knowledge and skills in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems;
- Ability to diagnose issues and solve problems independently;
- Confidence working on‑site and managing your own workload;
- Clear communication skills when supporting customers or teams;
- A safety‑first mindset and understanding of safe work practices.
