Geo-Con Products is seeking an experienced, Workshop Foreman / Production to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of its Geebung workshop.
n
Leading a small team of four, you'll coordinate production, schedule jobs, manage materials and purchasing, and remain hands-on in the workshop. Strong experience operating manual lathes, mills and other conventional machinery will be essential.

The workshop manufactures, modifies, services and repairs specialised construction materials testing equipment. The work is varied and ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving and different projects rather than repetitive production.

About the role

- Lead and coordinate a small workshop team
n
- Schedule and prioritise production
n
- Allocate work and monitor job progress
n
- Operate manual lathes, mills and workshop machinery
n
- Oversee fitting, fabrication, machining and mechanical assembly
n
- Assist with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
n
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
n
- Troubleshoot mechanical and equipment issues
n
- Manage purchasing, materials, tools and consumables
n
- Liaise with management regarding production requirements and priorities
n
- Maintain a safe, organised workshop and high standard of workmanship
n
- Remain hands‐on and assist the team as required
n

About you
n
You will be a trade-qualified Fitter & Turner with strong manual machining skills and experience working with conventional lathes and mills.
n
You will also bring:
n
n
- Extensive mechanical and workshop experience
n
- Experience supervising, leading or coordinating a small team
n
- Strong production scheduling and organisational skills
n
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
n
- Hydraulic and/or pneumatic experience
n
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
n
- A practical, hands‐on approach
n
- High standards of quality and workmanship
n
n
Experience with Microsoft Office and MYOB would be advantageous.
n
You don't necessarily need to have held a Workshop Foreman or Production Manager title. If you're an experienced Fitter & Turner who has naturally taken responsibility for organising jobs, supporting others and solving technical problems, we'd be interested in speaking with you.
