What You'll Be Doing

The Senior Hospital Scientist – In Charge of Section is responsible for the leadership, management and operational oversight of the Sleep Laboratory, ensuring the provision of protected, high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centred diagnostic and therapeutic sleep services for infants, children and adolescents with sleep-related and chronic respiratory disorders.

The position provides professional, scientific and operational leadership to scientific, technical and support staff and is accountable for the effective management of laboratory operations, clinical service delivery and associated service logistics.

The Senior Hospital Scientist – In Charge of Section is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, NSW Health policies, accreditation requirements and quality management systems, while maintaining the operational,



financial and clinical effectiveness of the service.

The role is responsible for workforce planning, supervision and performance management of staff, resource and budget management, implementation of quality improvement initiatives, risk management, and the achievement of agreed service objectives and key performance indicators. The position contributes to strategic service planning, service development, innovation, education and research, supporting continuous improvement and excellence in patient care and laboratory service delivery.
