This opportunity is with a leading energy infrastructure organisation delivering complex high voltage projects across Australia, including substations and associated HV infrastructure.

With a strong pipeline of substation projects, the business is continuing to grow its design and engineering capability and is looking for a technically strong electrical professional to take a lead role across project design and delivery.

Your Recent Role

As the Substation Design Lead, you will provide technical leadership across the design and delivery of HV substation projects, working closely with internal project teams, external engineering consultants and other key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a technical & project leadership position suited to an experienced Electrical Engineer, HV Design Lead, Principal Engineer or similar professional who has strong substation experience and wants to take on greater responsibility across design management and project delivery.

You will oversee external design teams, review and challenge technical deliverables, manage design interfaces and provide technical support through construction, commissioning and energisation.

Key Responsibilities





- Lead the design delivery of HV substation projects from early design through to construction, commissioning and energisation
- Provide technical leadership to internal and external design teams and manage engineering consultants
- Review and challenge designs, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Work closely with Project Managers, construction teams, clients and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and manage project interfaces
- Provide technical support through construction and commissioning while managing design programme, quality and technical risk

Your Experience

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience with strong HV substation exposure
- Experience in EHV substation design, with projects at 110kV and above.
- Strong understanding of substation design, engineering standards and technical specifications
- Experience leading design teams, managing external consultants and supporting project delivery
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across technical and non technical teams
