About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our growing technology team in Sydney. Working within a fast-paced financial services environment, you will design, develop, and support high-quality applications that underpin critical business functions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions while contributing to the ongoing evolution of our technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade Java applications.
n
- Build scalable, secure, and resilient backend services and APIs.
n
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Architects, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software.
n
- Participate in system design, technical planning, and architectural discussions.
n
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
n
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective solutions.
n
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tooling, and engineering standards.
n
- Ensure applications comply with security, regulatory, and compliance requirements relevant to financial services.
n
- Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployment practices.
n
n
Required Skills & Experience
n
n
- 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
n
- Strong experience developing applications in Java (Java 11 or above).
n
- Exposure to Kotlin development.
n
- Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
n
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
n
- Experience with Spring Boot and the wider Spring ecosystem.
n
- Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
n
- Experience using Git and modern CI/CD pipelines.
n
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks including JUnit and Mockito.
n
- Understanding of secure coding practices and application performance optimisation.
n
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
n
- Experience working within banking, financial services, insurance, wealth management, or fintech environments.
n
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
n
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
n
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
n
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
n
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies including Scrum or Kanban.
n
- Exposure to monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or Dynatrace.
n
