The Chance in a Nutshell
n
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Officer to join our Melbourne team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.
n
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established and collaborative Administrative and Business Support team, working alongside friendly and supportive professionals across the practice.
n
You'll receive a comprehensive training and handover program to ensure a smooth transition into the role, with plenty of support as you get to know our systems, processes, projects, and people.
n
Working closely with our Finance and Operations teams, you'll manage a range of day-to-day accounting and financial administration functions, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, project financial administration, invoicing, and financial reporting.
n
The opportunity would suit someone with 2+ years' experience in accounting or bookkeeping who is confident working independently, managing multiple priorities, and maintaining a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced professional services environment.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage invoice processing, payment scheduling, project invoicing, supplier payments, debt collection, and employee expense reimbursements.
n
Reconciliations & Financial Administration: Process bank and credit card reconciliations, maintain accurate financial records, manage petty cash, and oversee staff timesheet entries.
n
Project & Financial Support: Support project financial administration, budget tracking, cash flow documentation, and monthly financial reporting.
n
Stakeholder & Compliance Support: Liaise with suppliers and contractors, manage the shared finance inbox,
and support GST, tax, audit, and financial control requirements.
n
Process & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving financial processes and systems, including supporting the practice's Quality, Safety & Environmental Management System (IMS).

Experience and Skills
n
2+ years' experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
n
Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent experience
n
Proficiency in Xero, Microsoft Excel, and Office Suite
n
Sound understanding of accounting principles, GST, tax compliance, and financial controls
n
Experience with financial data entry and reconciliations
n
Project accounting and professional services experience preferred
