About the Role

The PrincipalMajor Projects Officer leads the delivery of some of the City ofCockburn’s most significant capital projects, including majorcommunity and civic infrastructure initiatives. Current projectsinclude the Wally Hagan Community Basketball and Sport Facility,Civic and Community Precinct redevelopment, Prinsep Parkdevelopment, Former Council Office Building Restoration andHenderson Innovation Hub.

Withaccountability across planning, governance, stakeholder engagement,procurement, construction and operational handover, the roleensures projects are delivered in line with strategic objectives,approved budgets, timelines and governance requirements. Theposition plays a key role in building trusted relationships,managing project risk and strengthening organisational capabilityin the delivery of major strategic projects.

About you

You are anexperienced project leader with a tertiary qualification in projectmanagement, engineering or a related discipline, and a proven trackrecord delivering large-scale, complex capital works orinfrastructure projects, ideally within local government,government or another highly regulatedenvironment.





You bringexceptional project governance and stakeholder management skills,with the ability to lead high-profile projects involvingsignificant community, financial and organisational impact. You areconfident managing multidisciplinary teams, consultants andcontractors, while navigating competing priorities and complexstakeholder interests.

You are astrategic thinker with strong judgement, political awareness andoutstanding communication skills. Your ability to establishdisciplined project controls, drive accountability and deliversuccessful project outcomes makes you well suited to leading majorprojects that will shape the future of the City ofCockburn.

Projectmanagement certifications such as AIPM, PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalentsenior project/program management credentials will be highlyregarded.

Salary and Perks: A competitive negotiable remunerationpackage will be offered based on skills, experience andqualifications.
