About The Role
As the Principal Advisor (Asbestos), you will provide expert professional advice on legislative, scientific and technical issues about asbestos to Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) and its internal and external clients,
in order to ensure greater awareness about asbestos and to promote the effectiveness of the Workplace Health and Safety Program and compliance with workplace health and safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Provide expert advice on professional, scientific and technical issues relating to asbestos.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate education and training programs related to asbestos which will increase the engagement of stakeholders.
- Provide specialist input to the development of asbestos legislation, information products, policies and enforcement activities.
- Produce reports and conduct reviews of technical information arising out of asbestos related serious workplace incidents, appearing as an expert witness in courts of law where necessary.
- Represent OIR on internal and external committees and other forums to provide professional, scientific and technical advice on asbestos safety issues.
- Actively contribute to the effectiveness of the Queensland workplace health and safety program through the identification and development of innovative solutions to reduce risk of asbestos related illnesses and disease.
- Assist workplace health and safety regional officers through the provision of expert technical advice, input into audits and specialised projects.
