Kellyville Private Hospital is seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Grade 2 to join our specialised Drug and Alcohol Inpatient Unit.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to provide advanced clinical leadership while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to people recovering from substance use disorders. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting patients through detoxification, rehabilitation and recovery while mentoring and developing nursing staff.
About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2, you will:
- Provide advanced clinical assessment, planning and delivery of evidence-based nursing care.
- Demonstrate expert clinical knowledge in the assessment and management of substance use disorders, including the recognition and management of alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine and other drug withdrawals.
- Monitor patients throughout the withdrawal process, promptly identifying and responding to clinical deterioration and withdrawal-related complications.
- Act as a clinical resource and role model for the nursing team.
- Support and mentor staff through education, coaching and bedside leadership.
- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with medical, allied health and multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote trauma-informed, recovery-oriented practice.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits and clinical governance activities.
- Assist with the implementation of policies, procedures and best practice guidelines.
- Support secure medication management and clinical risk management.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement within the unit.
About You
To be successful you will have:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health - Drug & Alcohol
- Minimum 3 years' post-registration experience, with demonstrated experience in Drug & Alcohol.
- Previous experience in a senior clinical or leadership role is highly desirable.
- Excellent assessment, communication and clinical decision-making skills.
- A commitment to patient-centred, recovery-focused care.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care.
- Experience participating in accreditation and quality improvement activities.
