We are looking for an experienced House Support Lead who can bring this philosophy to life every day.
About Sahara Services
Sahara Services is a registered NDIS provider delivering Supported Independent Living (SIL), Community Access, Respite andindividualised disability supports across Sydney.
About the Role
The House Support Lead is accountable for the quality of support, participant outcomes, staff practice and safe day-to-dayoperation of an allocated SIL home.
This is a hands-on leadership position combining direct participant support with team leadership, documentation oversight,stakeholder communication and operational responsibility.
You will know the participants you support well — their goals, routines, preferences, health needs, risks and aspirations — andensure the entire support team understands how to provide consistent, person-centred support.
You won't just make sure the house is running. You will make sure the people living in it are progressing, supported andliving the life they choose.

- Participants are safe, heard and actively progressing towards meaningful goals.
- Support is consistent across workers and shifts.
- Staff understand what good support looks like for each individual participant.
- Documentation is timely, accurate and meaningful.
- Incidents and health concerns are escalated appropriately.
- Medication and participant-money systems are well controlled.
- The home remains safe, welcoming and participant-led.
- Families and stakeholders receive professional and timely communication.
- Problems are identified early and followed through - not left for someone else to chase.
What You'll Be Involved In
This is a varied, hands-on SIL leadership role. Your focus will be on participant outcomes, consistent staff practice, safe homeoperations and making sure issues are identified and followed through.
Participant Outcomes & Direct Support
- Know each participant's goals, routines, preferences, communication needs, health needs, risks and support requirements,and keep support person-centred.
- Promote participant choice, independence, skill development and community participation,
while monitoring progress andchanges in needs or circumstances.
- Provide direct support when required, including personal care, daily living, community participation, appointments, medicationsupport within scope, Behaviour Support Plans, household routines and incident or behavioural support in line with participantplans and Sahara procedures.
- Lead, coach and mentor Disability Support Workers, observe practice, provide feedback and support induction, training andongoing development.
- Ensure staff understand participant plans, risks, behaviour support strategies and individual preferences, and promoteconsistent support across shifts.
- Address performance or competency concerns, monitor attendance and punctuality, lead house/team meetings and build arespectful, accountable team culture.
Documentation, Health & Quality
- Maintain accurate, timely and meaningful participant documentation, and follow up gaps, incidents or changes to supportrequirements.
- Oversee medication processes and scheduled checks, follow up health appointments and elevate discrepancies or changesin participant health and wellbeing appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with Sahara's clinical, operational and quality teams to maintain current participant information, plans,risk assessments and records.
- Ensure day-to-day support reflects NDIS Practice Standards, Sahara policies and participant rights, dignity, privacy,supported decision-making, choice and control.
- Escalate incidents, hazards, complaints and safeguarding concerns; maintain emergency readiness; complete requiredhouse, WHS, medication and safety checks; and follow through corrective actions.
- Keep the SIL home safe, welcoming, respectful, well maintained and organised around participant needs, coordinatingmaintenance, supplies, WHS and environmental matters with the appropriate Sahara teams.
Workforce, Participant Money & Stakeholders
- Work with the Workforce team on staffing continuity, participant-specific competency and compatibility needs, rosterconcerns, timesheets where required, and feedback relating to recruitment, induction and probation.
- Where Sahara supports participant money, ensure expenditure records, receipts and reconciliations are maintained, fundsand property are safeguarded, and discrepancies are escalated immediately.
- Maintain professional relationships with participants, families, Support Coordinators, Behaviour Support Practitioners, alliedhealth professionals, plan managers and Sahara teams, including participation in reviews, case conferences and stakeholdermeetings where required.

About You
We are looking for someone who combines compassion with accountability.
- At least 2-3 years' experience within disability services, preferably Supported Independent Living.
- Previous experience as a Team Leader, House Manager, Senior Support Worker or similar leadership position.
- Strong understanding of person-centred support, participant rights and supported decision-making.
- Experience coaching and supervising Disability Support Workers.
- Strong written documentation and communication skills.
- Confidence managing difficult conversations and staff performance.
- Good judgement and the ability to remain calm during incidents or emergencies.
- Strong organisation and follow-through.
- Ability to recognise when participant needs or risks have changed.
- Confidence communicating with families, Support Coordinators and allied health professionals.
- Experience with electronic client-management and workforce systems.
- A proactive mindset - someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.
- Most importantly, you understand that you are working in someone's home, not running an institution.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Working With Children Check where required for the participants supported.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Appropriate qualification in Disability, Community Services or a related field, or significant equivalent industry experience.
- Ability to meet Sahara Services' infection prevention and worker-safety requirements.
- Rights to work in Australia.
