We're on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated Practitioner to become a pivotal part of our vibrant team. The overall purpose of the Practitioner, Foster & Kinship Care is to recruit, train, assess and support Foster & Kinship carers to meet the individual needs of children and young people in out of home care (OOHC). The Practitioner, Foster & Kinship Care will ensure that a targeted level of support is provided to all care placements, based on identified needs and program type.

Permanent Full-time position working 76 hours per fortnight based at our Gympie service.

Responsibilities
n
n
- Forge impactful relationships with children and youth of varying ages, applying micro-therapeutic techniques to foster resilience and a deeper understanding of their backgrounds.
n
- Evaluate the strengths and potential risks in care placements,
empowering Foster and Kinship Carers with the essential skills to ensure a safe and nurturing setting.
n
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to craft and execute bespoke therapeutic interventions for individuals and carers, considering the unique needs across developmental phases from infancy to 17 years.

Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements
n
n
- Degree in Health, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or similar (this is an essential requirement of the role)
n
- Current National Police Check
n
- Current Blue Card
n
- Current Licenced Care Service (LCS)
n
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
n
- Ability and willingness to travel within the service region
n
- Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours and provide on-call support as required
n

About You
n

- Experience in engaging with carers through training, recruitment, and support processes.
n
- You have demonstrated ability in assessing complex situations, crafting personalized care strategies, and offering direct in-home support.
n
- You possess a thorough understanding of child protection laws and practices.
n
- Your skill set includes the ability to deliver training and lead support groups effectively.
n
- You are adept at working within child-centric and family-oriented frameworks.
n
- You have a track record of managing detailed documentation efficiently.
n
