Swivelpole is seeking an experienced and motivated Production Manager to lead our workshop and production operations in Mandurah.

n

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk all day. We're looking for a hands-on leader with a strong fabrication, welding or boilermaking background who enjoys being actively involved in production while leading a team, coordinating workflow and driving operational excellence.

You'll play a key role in planning production, supporting and developing employees, managing suppliers, maintaining quality standards and ensuring customer orders are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.

What You'll Be Doing

Production Planning & Coordination

n

n
- Plan and coordinate production activities to meet customer requirements and delivery deadlines.
n
- Schedule labour, materials and equipment to maximise efficiency.
n
- Monitor production progress and proactively address issues before they impact delivery.
n
- Coordinate workflow across manufacturing and workshop activities.
n
- Maintain a strong presence on the workshop floor.
n
- Lead by example in safety, quality and productivity.
n
- Provide practical support to the production team when required.
n
- Assist with fabrication, welding, assembly and problem‐solving activities within your area of expertise.
n




- Support and mentor apprentices and tradespeople.
n

Team Management

- Lead, coach and develop production employees.
n
- Set clear expectations and performance standards.
n
- Conduct toolbox meetings and communicate daily production priorities.
n
- Foster a positive, accountable and safety-focused culture.
n
- Source materials, consumables and external services.
n
- Obtain quotations and negotiate with suppliers.
n
- Manage purchasing activities to support production requirements.
n
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

- Ensure products meet company and customer quality requirements.

- Conduct inspections and oversee quality‐control activities.
n
- Maintain a safe, organised and efficient workshop environment.

About You

n

You are a practical leader who understands production from the ground up and enjoys balancing workshop involvement with planning and coordination responsibilities.

n

n
- Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Boilermaking, Welding or a related trade.
n
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a production, workshop supervisory or leadership role.
n




- Robust experience within fabrication, welding or manufacturing environments.
n
- Experience leading and developing tradespeople and apprentices.
n
- Experience with purchasing, supplier management and production scheduling.
n
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
n
- Sound computer skills including Microsoft Office and business systems.
n
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
n
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.

- Manufacturing or engineering industry experience.

- ERP, MRP or production planning system experience.
n
- Leadership, quality management or WHS qualifications.
