Role Description

The Design Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Darwin, NT. This role is responsible for leading the design process across multidisciplinary engineering and asset advisory projects, ensuring that solutions are technically sound, sustainable, and aligned with client objectives. Day-to-day activities include coordinating design teams, reviewing and approving design documentation, managing timelines and resources, and collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues. The Design Manager will oversee quality assurance, support project bids and proposals, and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and workflows. This position also involves mentoring team members, fostering a collaborative culture, and actively supporting Lucid’s purpose and values in every project.

Qualifications





- Demonstrated experience in managing design delivery for engineering, construction, or asset advisory projects, including coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong skills in design review, documentation oversight, and quality assurance, with the ability to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Proficiency with common design and documentation tools (e.g., CAD/BIM platforms, project collaboration software) and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and client management skills, with the ability to facilitate workshops, resolve issues, and build long-term relationships.
- Proven project management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, risk identification, and resource coordination in fast-paced environments.
- Experience mentoring and developing team members, promoting a culture of collaboration, learning, and accountability.
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and an interest in responsible, future-focused solutions that create lasting value for communities.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related discipline, or equivalent qualified experience; professional registration or chartership is highly regarded.
- Previous experience in consulting or professional services, within the Australian market and in building, infrastructure, or asset projects.
- Ability to work on-site in Darwin, NT, with a flexible and proactive approach to evolving project needs.
