Immigration Lawyer

About the Role:
n
A growing migration practice is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Immigration Lawyer to join its team and support the end-to-end processing of Australian migration matters.
n
This role is primarily focused on the backend processing and management of migration applications, making it well suited to someone who enjoys technical casework, documentation, compliance, and application preparation. Client-facing responsibilities will be limited, allowing the successful candidate to focus on delivering accurate, high-quality migration outcomes.
n
The successful candidate will manage migration matters from application preparation through lodgement and follow-up while working closely with experienced legal, migration, and administrative professionals. Key Responsibilities:
n
n
- Manage the backend processing of Australian migration and visa applications from preparation through lodgement and finalisation.
n
- Review client information and supporting documentation to ensure applications are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable migration requirements.
n
- Prepare and compile visa applications, forms, supporting documentation, submissions, and related correspondence.
n
- Conduct research into Australian migration legislation, regulations, policies, and visa requirements.
n
- Assess documentation and identify potential issues, inconsistencies, or gaps that may affect application outcomes.
n
- Monitor application progress, deadlines, requests for further information, and other procedural requirements.
n
- Liaise with relevant government authorities and internal teams regarding application processing and case requirements.
n
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, records, documentation, and application status information.
n
- Ensure all migration matters are handled in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, and professional standards.
n
- Work collaboratively with lawyers, registered migration agents, and administrative staff to ensure efficient case management.
n
- Assist with complex or technically challenging migration matters as required.
n
- Contribute to improving internal processes, workflows, templates, and best practices.
n
- Support the broader team in maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and turnaround times.

Required Qualifications:
n
n
- Previous experience working within an Australian migration or immigration practice is preferred.
n
- Experience in a backend migration processing or case management role is highly desirable.
n
- Working knowledge of Australian migration law, visa frameworks, application processes, and compliance requirements.
n
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and managing migration applications and supporting documentation.
n
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and missing information.
n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Strong legal research, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
n
- Ability to manage multiple applications, deadlines, and competing priorities effectively.
n
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, compliance, and professional standards.
n
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with lawyers, migration agents, and administrative professionals.
n
- Registered Migration Agent (RMA)
status or a Legal Practising Certificate (LPC) is preferred but not required.
n
- Candidates with relevant migration industry experience who are not currently RMA-qualified or legally admitted are encouraged to apply.
n
- Experience handling complex migration matters is advantageous.
n
- Multilingual capabilities are a plus but not essential.
n
- Strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and client outcomes.
