Horizon Airways is seeking a capable, safety‑focused Commercial Pilot to operate day VFR services in Cessna 206 aircraft from our Horn Island base in the stunning Torres Strait. This is a hands‑on flying role with meaningful community impact, independence, and variety across regional Queensland.

- Location: Horn Island, Torres Strait Islands, Queensland, Australia
- Aircraft: Cessna 206 (single‑engine)
- Operations: Day VFR only
- Employment: Full‑time
- Start date: October 2026
- Travel: Periodic travel to satellite bases: Cloncurry, Innisfail/Cairns, and Mackay
- License: CPL (Australia)
- Housing: Company housing provided

Based at Horn Island, you will conduct protected and efficient day VFR air transport operations in the Cessna 206, making sound independent decisions while adhering to established standard operating procedures. You’ll support operations throughout the Torres Strait and broader regional Queensland network, occasionally positioning to satellite bases as required.

- Operate C206 day VFR services to company and regulatory standards.
- Plan and execute flights, including performance, weight and balance, fuel, and weather analysis.
- Exercise sound judgement in remote environments while following SOPs and checklists.
- Maintain high levels of airmanship, threat and error management, and passenger care.
- Travel to and operate from satellite bases (Cloncurry,



Innisfail/Cairns, Mackay) as required.

- Current CPL.
- Minimum 250 hours total flight time (simulator/FSTD time excluded).
- Experience flying with analogue flight instrumentation.
- Proven ability to work remotely and unsupervised in line with SOPs.
- Manual driver’s license.
- Day VFR operations only.
- Willingness to travel to satellite bases as operationally required.

- 400+ total hours and/or 100+ multi‑engine hours.
- Garmin G1000 avionics experience.
- Time on Cessna 172/206, Piper PA‑31 Navajo, PA‑34 Seneca, or Tecnam P2012.
- Flight instructor rating (Grade 1–3, DFE, NVFR, MEA, or IR endorsements).
- NVFR Rating; Multi‑Engine Instrument Rating.
- Remote area operations experience.
- Schedule 8 maintenance capability.

- Full‑time roster based at Horn Island.
- Travel to satellite bases in regional Queensland as operational needs dictate.
- Daytime flying only.

- Full‑time employment with company‑provided housing on Horn Island.
- Varied flying across unique tropical and outback environments.
- Supportive procedures‑driven operation with scope for growth across the network.
- Anticipated commencement in October 2026.
