A large-scale utilities and energy distribution business is looking for a Market Systems Database Developer to join their IT team on a 12-month contract.

This role sits within Market Systems, supporting and enhancing the billing and metering systems that keep day-to-day operations running, while a separate program builds out the future-state platform. You'll be backfilling a critical technical capability, working across regulatory initiatives, platform enhancements and business-driven projects.

What you'll be doing

- Design, develop, test and maintain Oracle database and PL/SQL solutions across a complex, high-availability application portfolio
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, deployment guides, operational support docs
- Troubleshoot, resolve defects and lead root cause analysis on application and database issues
- Work closely with developers, business analysts and technical analysts through a structured SDLC and design governance process
- Support environment stability, deployments and vendor release activity

What you'll bring

- Solid Oracle database development experience, including PL/SQL
- Enterprise application development experience, ideally within complex, mission-critical systems
- Solid grounding in structured SDLC delivery,



coding standards, code review, testing, change management
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- SQL performance analysis/tuning experience highly regarded

Highly regarded (not essential)

- Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ)
- Unix/Linux shell scripting (Bash, Korn Shell, Perl)
- Billing, metering or electricity market systems experience
- Regulatory change delivery experience
- Utilities or energy sector background
- ITIL practices
