About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse looking to develop their skills and build a career in Emergency Nursing.

As an Emergency Nurse, you will provide consumer-centred, evidence-based care to patients presenting with a broad range of acute health needs. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will use your clinical assessment, problem-solving and organisational skills to provide safe, effective and compassionate care.

You will play an integral role in establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and their families, communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and contributing to the ongoing assessment and management of patients throughout their Emergency Department journey.

Key responsibilities

- Provide safe, high-quality, consumer-centred care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Undertake clinical assessment, prioritisation and ongoing management of patients with a broad range of acute health needs.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and evaluate plans of care.
- Establish effective therapeutic relationships with patients and their families, communicating with empathy and professionalism.
- Participate in education,



career development and learning opportunities throughout the program.

What we're looking for

- Registered Nurse with a minimum of 12 months acute nursing experience at the commencement of program
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn, you bring a positive attitude, a willingness to learn new skills, and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Motivated in your professional development, you take ownership of your growth, actively seek opportunities to build your knowledge and skills, and are committed to continually developing as a nurse.
- Passionate and proactive, you are a motivated team member who takes initiative, embraces feedback, and is passionate about making a positive difference to patients, families and the wider team.

What the Program Offers

- 6-months temporary part-time 64 hours per fortnight, commencing February 2027
- A structured introduction to Emergency Nursing including clinical assessments
- Supernumerary orientation and supported clinical shifts across key areas of the Emergency Department including Adults, Paediatrics and Fast-Track
- Education and clinical support provided by the dedicated Emergency services education team
- Specific study days to develop core nursing knowledge and clinical skills
- Opportunities to build confidence in clinical assessment, prioritisation and management of the emergency patient

Barwon Health ED is one of the largest regional health services in Victoria,



providing care for approximately 80,000 emergency presentations per year. Under Barwon Health’s emergency model of care patients are streamed to dedicated assessment areas including fast track, adult, paediatric, resuscitation,traumaand mental health areas. Our mission is to improve access andpatient flow to provide a sustainable service that ensures high quality, safe, people focusedcare. The emergency department also has short stay units to ensure consumers receive the right care, at the right place at the right time.
