The Location and Communityn

Newman, in the heart of the Pilbara, is your gateway to the adventure playground of Karijini National Park, with its epic chasms and pool-filled gorges. It's also where you can get up close to an equally awe-inspiring man-made spectacle - Mount Whaleback Mine, the world's largest open-cut iron ore mine.



This welcoming mining and tourism town is 1,184 kilometres north of Perth - that's a short one hour and 45-minute flight or 13-hour road trip from the State's capital.

The Rolen

The Head of Learning Area - Science will provide strategic and instructional leadership across the Science learning area, with a focus on strengthening teaching quality, curriculum delivery and student outcomes. As a key member of the school leadership team, the role will contribute to whole-school improvement priorities while leading the continued development of a cohesive, high-functioning Science team.

The successful applicant will ideally support and build the capability of Science staff through clear curriculum leadership, modelling effective practice, coaching colleagues and promoting consistent approaches to teaching and assessment. They will also lead the implementation of curriculum requirements, support effective performance development processes and foster a culture of collaboration, reflection and continuous improvement.

The role will contribute to the development and implementation of whole-school priorities, including the school's growing focus on STEM, and will work collaboratively with staff, community partners and relevant stakeholders to strengthen opportunities for students. The successful applicant will ideally be a flexible and adaptable leader who can lead change,



manage competing priorities and contribute beyond the learning area when required to support the broader functioning and development of the school.

Eligibilityn
